The Laramie Project
Published by Derek under Music, Personal on October 20, 2008Tonight I did an improvisation for Bad Habit Production’s upcoming production of The Laramie Project written by Moises Kaufman. They put out a request for origional compositions that were in response to the scrict. I decided to try and make something that I believed to symbolize the play. This improvisation is in memory of Matthew Shephard. It seems like so long ago this tragegy took place, even though only 10 years have passed. Let us all pray that from here on in more and more people are raised with peace in their hearts for all others in the wolrd. Enjoy the recording.

Peace and Love
I recently read a mystery novel that centered around a hate crime that resulted in the death of a gay man in his twenties. Though much of the book was focused on the who and why of the crime, the detail of what was done to this man moved me to tears. I openly wept for this character built out of this author’s imagination, but it made me realize that I cannot fathom this level of hate. Any level of hate for that matter, but especially the sort that is based upon, not what one has done but simply who they are. I love the second to last sentence of this posting. The recording is beautiful.
